Paramount Pictures has delayed the first of the three planned Avatar: The Last Airbender animated films, titled Aang: The Last Airbender, to 2026.

The animated Avatar: The Last Airbender spinoff was previously set for October 10, 2025, and will now open on January 20, 2026. Dave Bautista and Eric Nam are headlining the voice cast for the film, which is in development at Paramount and Nickelodeon Studios. While Eric is set to essay the role of the airbender, the Guardians of the Galaxy actor actor will play a villain in the film.

William Mata and Lauren Montgomery, who directed the first Avatar: The Last Airbender television series, are behind the film. Executive producers Eric Coleman, Michael DiMartino, and Bryan Konietzko are the creators of the series.

Details regarding the plot have not been announced yet, but it is set to follow the adventures of an adult Aang after the events of the original hit Nickelodeon show.

Originally unveiled in 2021, Aang: The Last Airbender was a part of Avatar Studios, a Nickelodeon production company whose entire mission is to add new original series and movies to the Avatar universe.
