Neva Howell, known for her roles in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul and Logan Lucky, has now signed on to portray Martha Kent in Warner bros’ Superman: Legacy. Pruitt Taylor Vince will be playing Jonathan Kent in the upcoming movie. Martha Kent is the wife of Jonathan Kent. The movie also stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. 

The extended cast of Superman: Legacy also includes Gotham's Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher and Wendell Pierce who recently joined the cast as Daily Planet Editor-in-Chief, Perry White.

Martha Kent and Jonathan Kent are the adoptive parents of Superman on earth, also known as Clark Kent. Lois Lane is Superman’s Love interest. Martha Kent was previously played onscreen by Phyllis Thaxter in Superman: The Movie, Eva Marie Saint in Superman Returns, and Diane Lane in the DC Extended Universe. Howell now joins the list of Ma Kents on the big screen. James Gunn, director or Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide squad is writing and directing this film. James Gunn took to his official  X  handle on Thursday to announce that his Superman: Legacy is going into pre-production.

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Gun mentioned “I learned so much from making the movies. But it’s not like Superman is going to have exactly the same vibe as a Guardians movie. It’s actually quite different.” Superman features as the first project in Gunn and Peter Safran’s relaunched DC Universe, Gods and Monsters.

 Superman: Legacy is scheduled to hit the theaters on July 11, 2025
