Philip Barantini is attached to the official adaptation of A Bostonian, Dennis Lehane's short story, as its director. Kamala Films and Aftersun producer Tango are developing the thriller. Damien Ober is adapting A Bostonian for the screen. Lehane's Mystic River and Shutter Island were also turned into feature films.

A Bostonian revolves around estate sales and antique dealers. According to the logline, "It centers around Nathaniel Dodson, a mild-mannered proprietor of rare books who has developed an obsession with collecting rejection letters – something he never received when his mother abandoned him as a child.  A rumor has developed that he is in possession of a rare and extremely valuable first edition of Tamerlane and Other Poems by A Bostonian (aka Edgar Allan Poe) just as a mysterious woman appears on his doorstep claiming to be his long-lost sister. As they get to know each other, it soon becomes clear that no one is exactly who they seem.”

Barantini is also executive producing the film through his banner It’s All Made Up Productions. His best-known works include Accused and Boiling Point.
