Dune 2, the upcoming sequel of the sci-fi film Dune, will release on IMAX 70mm just like Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer did. The film is expected to release on March 15, 2024.

A 70 mm will have a broader aspect ratio than what an Ultra HD or 4K cinema can offer. This will result in more precise and immersive watching. It is often called the premium format. Dune 2 has been shot for IMAX.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film is attached to Warner Bros and Legendary. The film will have actors Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem returning, along with newcomers Christopher Walken, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and Léa Seydoux.

The upcoming film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides (Timothee) as he unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavours to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
