Ana Nogueira, Playwright and actor who is best known for her role as Penny Ares on The Vampire Diaries was roped in as a writer to DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The film will be a chronicles around Supergirl, the Kryptonian cousin of Superman.
It is to be noted that Ana Nogueira was initially hired to write a Supergirl film that was intended to be a spinoff of The Flash. The plan was to use this film to launch a separate franchise centred around the Supergirl character. However, after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as the CEOs of DC Studios, they announced that Supergirl would be a standalone film, separate from The Flash, and part of the first phase of the new DC slate proposed by the new CEOs.
The comic featured Kara Zor-El( Supergirl), who, along with superdog Krypto, gets caught up in a young alien girl's galaxy-spanning revenge quest.
According to reports, Gunn and Safran liked Nogueira's work on the previous Supergirl project and brought her back. Further details about the film are yet to be revealed.
