Chad Stahelski hopeful about his Ghost of Tsushima adaptation following The Last of Us success

Chad Stahelski, who is currently promoting his directorial John Wick: Chapter 4, recently stated that the John Wick franchise might benefit from taking a break. While the franchise is already expanding into spinoff like Ballerina and The Continental, Stahelski himself will be focusing on other projects.

It was previously reported that Stahelski will be making a feature film adaptation of the popular video game Ghost of Tsushima. The video game follows the last surviving member of a Samurai clan who must battle against the Mongol invaders who have set foot on the island of Japan for the first time.

In a conversation with BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast, Stahelski talks about how the success of The Last of Us has made him hopeful about his adaptation. He says, “I hope that The Last of Us shines a further light on upcoming video game adaptions. Rainbow Six, Ghost of Tsushima I’m working on. Both are fantastic projects that I really hope come to fruition. But Ghost… it’s got an amazing story. It’s the anti-samurai samurai movie. It’s got great thematics. We have a lot of push on that and a lot of interest because Last of Us pushing that, yes, the curse of video game-to-movie is kind of lifted. It can be done. You’ve just got to give it love and attention. And Ghost, of probably all the other video game [movies] in development, I think that’s the one that’s going to land.”
