Denis Villeneuve lauds Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans

Director Denis Villeneuve praises Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans on the occasion of the Directors Guilds Awards.

Villeneuve commented that The Fabelmans is the best film ever made about the power of the cinema. “The Fabelmans’ is the best movie ever made about the power of cinema. It’s a miracle. To say that I was deeply moved by this movie is an understatement. ‘The Fabelmans’ is a pure act of artistic generosity made by one of the greatest filmmakers of our time.”

The Fablemans is a semi-autobiographical story loosely based on Spielberg's adolescence and first years as a filmmaker. The film received seven nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, including a Best Director nod for Spielberg.

Villeneuve's last released film is Dune (2021), based on Frank Herbert's novel of the same name. The film comprised an ensemble cast including Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. The second chapter of the film will be released in November.
