Hugh Grant to play  Oompa-Loompa in Wonka

With the ongoing CinemaCon 2023 revealing massive updates about the upcoming Hollywood projects, the makers of the upcoming musical adaptation Wonka, have revealed that actor Hugh Grant will be playing the role of Oompa-Loompa. Warner Bros Pictures released an exclusive trailer of the film.

The trailer, while unveiling the world of chocolatier Willy Wonka, also gave a glimpse of CGI-made Oompa-Loompa portrayed by Hugh.

However, it is yet to be known if the actor will have a prominent role in the film or will be restricted to a cameo appearance. The role of Willy Wonka is played by Timothée Chalamet, who will also perform original songs for the film.

Others part of the cast include Rowan Atkinson, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Natasha Rothwell, Matt Lucas. Wonka will be the prequel to  Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The logline of Warner Bros reads, "an origin story that explores the vivid, mythical beginnings of the imaginative young inventor before he becomes the renowned scrumdiddlyumptious Mozart of chocolate."

The musical is directed by Paul King, who co-wrote the screenplay along with Simon Farnaby. The film is slated to release on December 15.
