David Fincher's film The Killer, starring actor Michael Fassbender as an assassin, received a five-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival where it had its world premiere.
While the Michael and Tilda Swinton were not in attendance due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, David walked the red carpet, probably unaware of the standing ovation ritual at the festival. Once his film received the appreciation, David was left confused until one of his team member showed him a way to his seat and meet the fans.
The Killer is based on a graphic novel of the same name by Alexis Nolent and Luc Jacamon. The film's official description read, "After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers and himself on an international manhunt he insists isn't personal." The film has been adapted by Andrew Kevin Walker, who erstwhile collaborated with Fincher in Se7en and served as the script doctor for the cult classic film Fight Club. With Fassbender in the lead, the cast also features Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Sophie Charlotte
The film will be released on Netflix on November 10.
