Earlier, we had reported that legendary actor Al Pacino would be headlining an upcoming film titled Assassination, which would be based on the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy. The latest update is that Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson has been brought on board to direct the film. The script was written by David Mamet, who was initially slated to direct the film. 

Assassination will retell the story of Kennedy's assassination from the point of view of the mob. Apart from Pacino, the upcoming film also stars Shia LaBeouf, Viggo Mortensen, John Travolta, Rebecca Pidgeon, and Courtney Love

It is to be noted that Levinson and Mamet have previously collaborated in 1997's Wag The Dog and HBO's Phil SpectorAnd Levinson and Pacino had worked in films like Paterno, You Don't Know Jack and The Humbling

Meanwhile, Levinson bagged an Academy Award for the 1989 film Rain Main. His other popular credits include Diner, The Natural, Bugsy, Good Morning, and Vietnam, among others.
