Actor Michael Caine announces retirement at 90 

After two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA Award, among other achievements, British actor Michael Caine has announced retirement from acting at the age of 90. The announcement has come after the release of his latest film The Great Escaper.

In conversation with BBC Radio 4's Today program, the actor was quoted as saying, "I keep saying I'm going to retire. Well I am now. I've figured, I've had a picture where I've played the lead and had incredible reviews... What am I going to do that will beat this? The only parts I'm liable to get now are 90-year-old men. Or maybe 85. They're not going to be the lead. You don't have leading men at 90, you're going to have young handsome boys and girls. So I thought, I might as well leave with all this.”

In The Great Escaper, the actor played the role of Bernie Jordan who was a real life World War II veteran. In 2014, he escaped from his care to attend  D-Day anniversary celebrations in France. Michael, who is awarded the title Sir, is known for his films like Harry Brown, Educating Rita, The Italian Job, to name a few.
