According to a new report, all six cast members from Zack Snyder's Justice League era of the DC Extended Universe will not return to reprise their roles in the new DC Universe spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

In a new report from Variety on the behind-the-scenes drama of the final DCEU movie, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the trade notes that "none of the stars cast by Zack Snyder [...] will reprise their roles in the new DC universe in character." Variety goes on to report that Momoa, who starred in the DCEU as Aquaman, has had talks to play a new DC character in either Gunn's Superman: Legacy or a solo film.

The clarification is made that they could return for other roles, with the rumour of Momoa taking on the role of Lobo once again being raised. It’s unclear where he will make his debut, but it could be as soon as appearing in Superman: Legacy in 2025, or he may move directly to a stand-alone film.

The report does go on to confirm that Viola Davis will stay on as Amanda Waller and John Cena will reprise his role as Peacemaker.

As of now, the replacement for Henry Cavill’s Superman is confirmed, but most of the other characters have been up in the air. David Corenswet, who is best known for his work in Ti West’s Pearl and Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood series for Netflix, will be taking over as Superman alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane for Gunn’s 2025 film Superman: Legacy back in June.

Fans can expect new announcements and clarifications to be made once the SAG-AFTRA strike ends. Until then, there can be no new deals signed.
