Pablo Trapero, who has previously been the lead director on acclaimed shows such as Echo 3 and ZeroZeroZero, is all set to helm the adaptation of The Tourist, written by Olen Steinhauer. Neal H Moritz and Toby Jaffe will be backing this project for 20th Century Studios.

The first book in The Tourist series debuted in 2009 and went on to become a New York Times Bestseller. The film follows a secret agent in the black ops special branch of the CIA called Milo Weaver. The branch is given the secret code name The Tourists. The book had three sequels.

20th Century has seen potential in Trapero, who won the Critics Prize at the 1999 Venice Film Festival for his first feature Mundo Grua, to direct this adaptation. More details about the rest of the cast and crew of this adaptation are yet to be disclosed.
