Chris Pratt, Samuel L Jackson’s The Garfield Movie trailer out

Makers of the upcoming animated feature The Garfield Movie have unveiled the film’s official trailer. Directed by Mark Dindal and featuring Chris Pratt as the voice of Garfield and Samuel L Jackson as his long-lost father Vic, the upcoming film is set to hit theatres on May 24, 2024.

In the trailer for The Garfield Movie, Pratt’s lovable fat cat explains how he adopted his owner, John. Before he dives into a tray of lasagna, he warns the audience, “I apologize in advance. The eating you’re about to see will not be pretty. And if you have young children, this would be a good time for them to leave the room.”

The film’s official synopsis reads, Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure. After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vi – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.

Directed by Mark Dindal, known for directing animated films like Chicken Little and The Emperor's New Groove, the film has a script penned by David Reynolds. Apart from Pratt, Garfield features an ensemble cast including Samuel L. Jackson as the voice of Garfield's father, Vic, along with Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Brett Goldstein, Cecily Strong, Hannah Waddingham, and Bowen Yang.

Garfield was first published in 1976. The strip revolves around a Monday-hating, lasagna-loving orange cat named Garfield and his owner, Jon Arbuckle. The comic strip has been adapted into a handful of animation shows and two- live-action films, with Bill Murray voicing the cat.
