Adeline Rudolph to star in New Line's Mortal Kombat 2

We know that New Line Cinema is working on a sequel to its 2021 film Mortal Kombat. The latest update is that Adeline Rudolph, who portrayed  Agatha Night on Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, has joined the cast of the film.

The action-adventure film is based on the widely successful video game franchise. Simon McQuoid, who directed the first film, is returning for the sequel, which will be headlined by Karl Urban. Penned by Jeremy Slater, Rudolph will play Kitana, a character first introduced in Mortal Kombat II, the video game. Kitana has a close bond with Jade, a popular Kombat character who will be played by Tati Gabrielle. Both the actors earlier appeared on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Mortal Kombat was one of the earliest films to release right after the peak of the pandemic, and it went on to stay on top of the box office. Video-game-to-film adaptations have a long history of disappointing the fans, but Mortal Kombat subverted all expectations to have a stellar theatrical run.

Meanwhile, Adeline Rudolph's popular acting credits include CW's Riverdale and Netflix's Resident Evil series. The actor is currently filming the female lead in Millennium's Hellboy: The Crooked Man, directed by Brian Taylor.
