Actor Timothee Chalamet who will be playing the titular role in the upcoming film Wonka, the prequel musical film based on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, opened up about his character recently.
"To work on something that will have an uncynical young audience, that was just a big joy. That's why I was drawn to it. In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there's so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate," he told Vogue.
Wonka is directed by Paul King and will hit the theatres on December 15. The film is written by Paul along with Simon Farnaby. Besides Timothee, the film also stars Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, Natasha Rothwell, among others. Hugh Grant will be essaying the character of Oompa-Loompa
As per the books of Roald Dahl, Willy Wonka was a renowned chocalatier who came up with creative ways of making chocolates and candies, thus making his famous worldwide. Previously, the character was portrayed by Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder.
