Michelle Yeoh opens up about Wicked 

Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh is set to star in the first musical in her career, Wicked. The actor, who won the Best Actress Oscar award for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, says that taking the role in Wicked was a risk. 

At the recently concluded Fifth Annual Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival in Japan, the actor said, "I'm trying something new right now - filming Jon Chu's Wicked movie, which will be my first musical." being optimistic about the choice of the character she added, "It's very exciting, and I can't wait for you all to see it. It was a risk, but you will never know which doors will open for you unless you try them all."'

Directed by Jon M Chu, Wicked is the first of a two-part film adaptation of Holzman and Schwartz's stage musical of the same name. The film marks Yeoh's second collaboration with Chu after the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians. The first part of the film is headlined by Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. 

Yeoh will play the role of Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Shiz University's Crage Hall, where Elphaba and Glinda attend together. 

The cast of the film also includes Bowen Yang, Keala Settle, Marissa Bode, Brownwyn James, Ethan Slater and Jonathan Bailey.

The first part of the film is scheduled for release on November 27, 2024, while Wicked: Part Two will be released in December 2025.
