Elle Fanning to star in Bob Dylan biopic

We know that a biopic of American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan titled, A Complete Unknown, is in the making, with actor Timothee Chalamet to essay the lead role. The latest update is that Elle Fanning, who is best known for Princess Aurora in the fantasy films Maleficent (2014) and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019), has joined the cast. Earlier actor Monica Barbaro has also roped in to essay a prominent role.  

Fanning will play the role of Dylan’s early ’60s love interest, university student and artist Sylvie Russo. A Complete Unknown will be directed by James Mangold, with a script written by Mangold along with Jay Cocks. Mangold will also be credited as the producer of the film. 

Set at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, the story follows a young Dylan experimenting with electric in folk music. The move causes confusion among his fans, but the decision improves his career as he records some of the greatest albums and songs. 

Elle Fanning has a slew of acting credits in her name. Including Mary Shelley, The Beguiled, 20th Century Women, The Neon Demon, Trumbo,  Twixt, Super 8, Somewhere, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Babel, Teen Spirit, and  We Bought a Zoo, among others.
