Release of Will Ferrell's Strays postponed

The Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx-led film Strays, which was slated for release on June 9, will now release only on August 18. The release date has been postponed as Strays has taken the spot that was scheduled for the release of the untitled film from SNL writers, Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, collectively known as Please Don’t Destroy.

Written by Dan Perrault and directed by Josh Greenbaum, Strays will be a live-action feature with CGI canines. Ferrell stars as a stray dog who abandons his abusive owner (Will Forte) and befriends a Boston Terrier named Bug (Foxx). 

Developed by Erik Feig’s Picturestart production company, Strays was initially pitched to Louis Leterrier, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, before pitching it to Greenbaum. All of the above are now serving as producers in the project along with Aditya Sood.

Picturestart’s Jessica Switch and Julia Hammer serve as executive producers alongside Lord Miller’s Nikki Baida.
