Jennifer Lopez regrets missing out on action roles 

Jennifer Lopez starrer The Mother will be streaming on Netflix on May 12. In the film, the actor essays the role of a former assassin. Lopez, who is in her early fifties, laments that she should have landed more action roles when she was younger. 

According to aceshowbiz.com, Jennifer Lopez spoke about the joy of playing a tough character on-screen on the American talk show The View," (The Mother) was a lot of fun (and also) a lot of work... (I wish I had gotten) these types of roles that I'm getting now, funnily enough, when I was a little bit more, you know, spry. But a little bit, you know, younger... (They are) kind of empowering, and it makes me feel strong and good. And it was great," Jennifer explained on American talk show The View. 

After spending many years making rom-coms, Lopez mixed things up with her latest project, Shotgun Wedding, in which she took on more action sequences and in the upcoming film, The Mother, Lopez's assassin character coming out of retirement just as when her daughter is in grave danger. The character has enough room to showcase action sequences, "We have to be efficient. I can't be fighting eight hours a day. After like an hour, I'm like, OK. So they had to be really efficient, and they choreographed it almost like a dance, which is good for me since I'm a dancer."

The Mother is directed by Niki Caro, who previously helmed Disney's Mulan. The film also Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick and Gael García Bernal, among others.
