
We had earlier reported that director David Gordon Green was in the works for The Exorcist film. The earlier reports confirmed that Ellen Burstyn, who is best known for playing the character Chris MacNeil in the 1973 film, would be back to reprise the role. The latest update is that Linda Blair, who essayed the character Regan MacNeil, will also return to reprise the role.
According to Above the Line, the actor was also credited as an advisor on the upcoming The Exorcist film, and no sources have confirmed the actor's contribution on the acting front.
The film also features Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, Lidya Jewett, Jennifer Nettles, Olivia Marcum, Raphael Sbarge, and Okwui Okpokwasili.
Written by David Gordon Green and Peter Sattler, The film is a co-production between Blumhouse and Morgan Creek, whose David Robinson and James Robinson will produce alongside Jason Blum.
The Exorcist (1973) film revolves around the story of a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a mysterious demonic entity, forcing her mother to seek the help of two priests to save her. The film grossed $441 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing horror movie of all time before it earned 10 Oscar nominations, including one for Best Picture.
