Netflix is adapting Josie Silver's romance novel One Day in December into a film, and Lucy Boynton is to reportedly headline the adaptation. Boynton is also set to executive produce the film. Drake Doremus and Joel Stillerman are developing the adaptation, with the former writing and directing.

The novel One Day in December revolves around Laurie (Boynton), a person who does not believe in the concept of love at first sight until she experiences it herself. She sees a man through a bus window, falls in love at first sight, and pursues him. Unfortunately, she ends up not meeting him again for years together. Then, they meet again at a Christmas party, only for Laurie to find out that he is her best friend Sarah's boyfriend. The rest of the story is developed from this conflict.

The makers of One Day in December have not yet revealed any release window, as the film is still in the early stages of development. Meanwhile, Lucy Boynton, who was last seen in The Pale Blue Eye, is currently working on The Greatest Hits
