A series based on the sci-fi film Gattaca is in the works

A television series based on the 1997 hit series Gattaca is currently being developed by the creators and executive producers Homeland, Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. The dystopian series is set in a world where the life of a person is predetermined by genetic engineering, thereby creating a class system that segregates people into people with successful health and intelligence (valids) and those predicted to have shorter life span and lower levels of intelligence.

The new series will explore a similar setting where an invalid assumes the identity of a valid, and secures a high-paying job, with the hopes of one day flying to space, which is restricted to the valids.

Danny Devito, who produced the original film, will return as an executive producer for the series along with Gordon and Gansa. The original film, which starred Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, was written and directed by Andrew Niccol.
