Netflix and BBC come together to make series on Lockerbie bombing incident

A drama series on the Lockerbie bombing incident that took place in 1988 on the flight from Frankfurt to Detroit, is in development at BBC and Netflix.

The upcoming drama will be more factual and will throw light on the probing of the incident by the Scottish and American officials. The flight incident had killed 270 people onboard the flight on which the bomb was planted. The incident is considered to be one of the terrible attacks that took place in Britain.

The series will consist of six parts with Gillian Roger Park and Jonathan Lee writing it. It will also consist of interviews related to the bombing and throw light on how it left a lasting impact. Michael Keillor will serve as the director.

Speaking about the series, Netflix drama commissioner Mona Qureshi said, “The moment we read Jonathan’s pilot script, informed by Adam’s meticulous research, we understood that this team had found a way into these events that is epic and intimate, local and global, personal and political. The devastation wrought on the night of 21st December 1988 continues to reverberate through the decades.”
