Elvis Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley passes away 

She succumbed to a heart attack at 54

Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of veteran singer Elvis Presley died on Thursday, after being rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles. The death of the 54-year-old singer-songwriter was announced by her mother, Priscilla Presley. 

In a statement Priscilla gave to the Associated Press, she wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known."

Lisa reportedly suffered from a cardiac arrest after which she was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles. Priscilla and Lisa just attended the Golden Globes Awards on Tuesday night in Beverly Hills to support Austin Butler, who bagged the award under the category Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, for his portrayal of the title character in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, about the King of Rock and Roll. 

Lisa was just nine when her father breathed his last in 1977 at the age of 42. Presley, who had been married to Danny Keough, Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage, and Michael Lockwood, was single at the time of her passing. Her son, Benjamin Keough, died by suicide in 2020 at age 27.

Presley’s songs were received well by fans and critics. Although living up to her father’s name was pressure all her life, Presley has embraced her father’s legacy by singing duets with his recordings of Don’t Cry Daddy and In the Ghetto.

Presley was known for her humanitarian efforts that included the oversight of The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation as chairperson, involvement with Winfrey’s Angel Network, and numerous other charities and endeavors that carried the Presley name. 

Presley is survived by her daughters Riley, Harper, and Finley; and her mother Priscilla.
