Gordon Pinsent, known for her performance in Away From Her, passed away at the age of 92, on Saturday. The actor's death was confirmed through a statement released by his family on Sunday. No further details about his passing are available at this time. 

A prolific Canadian actor, Gordon Pinsent gained international recognition in 2006 for his performance in Sarah Polley's Away From Her, in which he starred alongside Julie Christie. He won the best actor from the Genie awards and ACTRA awards for his role as a husband losing his wife to Alzheimer's in the film. 

Pinsent's career spanned seven decades, with more than 150 film and television acting credits, making him a household name in Canada. Pinset started his acting career by performing supporting roles in productions of Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew, The Tempest and Cyrano de Bergerac. Prior to acting, he served in the Canadian army for four years in the 50s.

Notable credits for the Canadian performer include Due South, The Red Green Show and The Grand Seduction as well as CBC programs like The Forest Rangers, Quentin Durgens, M.P. and Street Legal. Pinsent also featured in American productions such as It Takes a Thief, Silence of the North and The Thomas Crown Affair. The Rowdyman and John and the Missus are two of his novels that were adapted into feature films. Another memoir book, By the Way, was published in 1994. 

Gordon Pinsent tied the knot to Charmion King in 1962 and the two remained wed until her death in January 2007. He is survived by his three children, two daughters and a son.
