Season two of the Game of Thrones prequel House of Dragon will likely return in the summer of 2024. According to Variety, the content CEO of HBO and HBO Max, Casey Bloys, confirms that the prequel will return sometime in 2024. However, he didn't share an exact date of streaming; instead, he hinted that the series wouldn't be eligible for Emmy 2024, narrowing the conclusion that House of the Dragon will return after May (Emmy eligibility is before May 31).
House of the Dragon follows two centuries before the events of Game of Thrones. The ten episodes of the prequel's first season depicted how the House of Targaryen fell into a bitter and brutal civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons — presaging the beginning of the end of the ruling family of Westeros.
The series was created by authors George RR Martin and Ryan J Condal, based on Martin's novel Fire & Blood. In the first season, Condal and director Miguel Sapochnik were executive producers and co-showrunners on the series; Martin and Vince Gerardis were executives producing as well alongside Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Ron Schmidt, Clare Kilner, Geeta V. Patel, and Greg Yaitanes.
The House of Dragon stars Paddy Considine, Emmy D'Arcy Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke and Fabien Frankel.
