Actors Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche are set to collaborate once again after 25 years since the release of The English Patient, for the upcoming The Return. The Italy-Greece-UK-France co-production will be based on the ancient Greek classic The Odyssey.

The upcoming project will be helmed by Academy Award nominee Uberto Pasolini. Apart from Ralph and Juliette, the film will also feature Charlie Plummer who won the Venice Film Festival Best Young Actor Award.

According to Variety, the film will be set 20 years away when Odysseus, played by Ralph, is washed up on the shores of Ithaca, unrecognisable. With much changed in the kingdom and his wife Penelope (Juliette), a prisoner in her own home and hounded by many suitors, their son Telemachus (Charlie), who has grown up fatherless, is facing death at the hands of the suitors who see him as an obstacle.

“Odysseus has changed too. Scarred by his experience of war, he is no longer the mighty warrior his people remember. But he is forced to face his past in order to rediscover the strength needed to save his family and win back the love he has lost,” reads the rest of the logline.

The film is set to go on floors in Greece’s Corfu and Peloponnese in spring and will also be shot in Italy. It is set to hit the theatres sometime in 2024.
