Recently, during their quarterly earning, Disney announced that the Toy Story, Zootopia and Frozen franchises will be getting their next film in the series. The original franchise star of Toy Story, Tim Allen, took to Twitter to confirm that he would be returning to his iconic role of Buzz Lightyear.

On Twitter, the actor wrote, "See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to number 5! To infinity and beyond!" He has also indirectly hinted that the film would see the reunion of Woody, the cowboy voiced by Tom Hanks after the pair separated at the end of Toy Story 4

Pixar released the Toy Story spin-off, Lightyear, last year. The film shows the story of the real-life (fictional) character on which the toy is based. Starring Chris Evans, the film was not a success at the box office and received mixed reviews.

Tim Allen is known for playing Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor on the sitcom Home Improvement (1991-99), and Mike Baxter on Last Man Standing (2011-21). While he has voiced Buzz Lightyear in all four Toy Story films, he is currently featuring in the series, The Santa Clauses. The series is a Christmas comedy, and Tim plays the lead role.
