Stephen King's works have served as a fodder to cinematic adaptations for a while now and in line with this, actor Mena Massoud is set to back the author's short story The Doctor's Case in Farsi language as The Last King. It is to be noted that it is the first time Stephen's work is getting a foreign language adaptation.

The Doctor's Case is one of the lesser-known thriller stories penned by Stephen. It revolves around a murder mystery after the death of a father and suspicion falls on the family members.

As per Variety, the film will be set in Iran and will reflect the current political climate of the country, which revolves around "Woman, Life, Freedom", where the woman of the nation have been fighting for gender quality.

The Last King will feature Iranian actors such as stand-up comedian Maz Jobrani, Sheila Ommi, Peter Banifaz, Nazanin Nour, and Tara Grammy, among others. The film will be backed by Mena under his banner Press Play Productions. It is to be noted that The Doctor's Case was earlier adapted into a film in 2018 by director James Douglas.
