Sony Pictures is said to develop the sequel of the 1997 slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer. The actors who starred in the original, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr have been locked in negotiation to reprise their roles in the sequel.
The film is said to be in the early stages of development at Sony. Producer Neal H Moritz and Leah McKendrick will be returning as the producer and scriptwriter, respectively. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is reported to be the director of the film.
I Know What You Did Last Summer, which launched the careers of Jennifer Love, Freddie and Sarah Michelle Gellar, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. The film revolved around four friends who mutually have an incident tying them down together. They find themselves reunited when a psychopath, aware of their knowledge of the accident about which they had told nobody, stalks them wielding a hook. It also spawned a sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
