Following his annual ritual, former US President Barack Obama posted a list of his favourite films of the year, with 2023 drawing to a close.
Acknowledging the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that happened earlier this year, Obama wrote, "Earlier this year, writers and actors went on strike to advocate for better working conditions and protections. It led to important changes that will transform the industry for the better."
Stating that he is biased towards films backed by his banner Higher Ground, Obama's list started with his productions, Rustin, Leave The World Behind, and American Symphony. Besides the three films, Obama also mentioned The Holdovers, Blackberry, Oppenheimer, American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Monster, Past Lives, Air, Polite Society, and A Thousand and One.
Though not initially on the list, he also added The Color Purple as one of his favourites.
