American TV producer and filmmaker Julie Plec's company My So Called Company and Universal Television have acquired the rights of the novel titled The Art of Scandal. It is written by Regina Black.
The Art of Scandal is about a woman named Rachel Abbott. On the night of her husband's 40th birthday, she receives a text from him, which she finds out was meant for another woman. The rest of the story is how Rachel deals with the situation while being determined to not leave her marriage with nothing. On the other hand, the husband has political aspirations and cannot afford to get burdened by tainted reputation.
The adaptation will have Julie serving as the executive producer along with Emily Cummins, with Regina as consultant of the project. “I feel like I’ve been waiting for a book like this to come around for years. Regina really knocked this out of the park, allowing me to indulge in my favorite kind of television: a sexy, smart, multi-generational, multi-cultural soap," Julie said in a statement.
Cast and crew details of the adaptation are yet to be announced.
