James Wan to adapt HP Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu into feature film

Director James Wan is adapting HP Lovecraft short story The Call of Cthulhu, into a film. The story was first published in 1928.

The story is set in the 1900s, and is about a man named Francis Thurston who probes a cult which worships the titular monster.  Cthulhu, the monster character, first made its appearance in The Call of Cthulhu story, and subsequently made its appearances in Lovecraft's works. The character also was used in the works by Robert Bloch and Stephen King.

It is to be note that Lovecraft's works have been adapted to screen in the past, including The Haunted Palace and Die, Monster, Die!, From Beyond, to name a few.
