Actor Andre Braugher's cause of death revealed 

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's most famous Captain Raymond Holt, Andre Braugher, passed away on Monday, December 11. The 61-year-old actor was reportedly suffering from a brief illness, which also caused his demise. The actor's publicist, Jennifer Allen confirmed the news of his death.

Now, the actor's cause of death has been revealed. Andre's rep told People that the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star died due to lung cancer. It is unclear when Andre was diagnosed with the illness.

Born in Chicago in 1962, Braugher started his career with a role in the 1989 film, Glory. He essayed a free educated Black man who joined the first black regiment in the Union Army. His Television career started simultaneously, as he played Kojak's sidekick in the TV reboot of the hit film franchise, Kojak: Ariana. 

Braugher is known for his Police detective roles, namely in all the spinoffs of Kojak, Hack (2002), as well as, in Homicide: Life on the Street (1993). He also went on to bag an Emmy Award for Lead actor for his performance as Detective Frank Pembleton in the latter.

With a side-by-side career in Television and feature films, Braugher was also performing in some theatrical productions. He received an Obie Award for playing the titular role in the 1996 production of Henry V, as a part of the Shakespeare in the Park series. 

He further went on to win a second Emmy award for his performance as  Nick Atwater in the mini-series Thief (2006). Some of his feature film credits include City of Angels, Frequency, Poseidon, Salt, and The Gambler, among others.
