
Netflix released the trailer of its upcoming biopic Rustin, modeled after the African American leader Bayard Rustin who fought against racial discrimination. The trailer was released on the occasion of 60th anniversary of March on Washington, historic moment in the civil rights movement.
The film is set to release in selected theatres on November 3 and on Netflix on November 17.
The trailer takes us through the life of the activist, who fought for the intersectional rights. Rustin, who identified himself homosexual, advocated for both queer and Black rights. The trailer gives a glimpse into his character study, how wise and charismatic he was, and how he planned the march among other campaigns.
Rustin will feature Colman Domingo in the lead titular role, along with the cast comprising of Aml Ameen as Martin Luther King Jr, Jeffrey Wright, Audra McDonald, Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Da’Vine Joy Randolph among others.
The film is backed by Barack and Michelle Obama, with George C. Wolfe serving as the director. The screenplay is by Julian Breece and Dustin Lance Black.
