Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy fame director Tomas Alderson is all set to adapt the feature film Faithless (2000) into a limited TV series. The original feature film was helmed by Liv Ullmann and had a script penned by Ingmar Bergman.
The original Faithless revolved around an actor Marianne Vogler who marries acclaimed conductor Markus Vogler but ends up cheating on him by initiating an affair with his best friend David Howard. The limited TV series will explore this story of adultery and love, and will also move into the future of these characters 40 years later, tracking the consequences of their decisions.
The series is said to travel back and forth between the present day, and the past which happened 4 decades earlier. Lena Endre will be reprising the role of Marianne from the original film. Jesper Christensen will feature as the older David Howard, with Gustav Lindh as the younger version. Frida Gustavsson will portray young Marianne, with August Wittgenstein featuring as young Markus.
The shooting for the six-part series has begun, and the makers plan to release it early in 2025. The TV series adaptation of Faithless is produced by Fremantle’s Miso Film Sweden.
