Strange Way of Life, the upcoming short directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pedro Almodovar, starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke in the lead role, will premiere at the 48th edition of the renowned Toronto International Film Festival. The film had its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival.

It is to be noted that it has been earlier announced that Pedro Almodovar will be receiving The Jeff Skoll Award in Impact Media at the festival. The award is presented by Participant and recognizes leadership in creating a union between social impact and cinema.

In Dua Lipa's At Your Service podcast, Pedro Almodovar described Strange Way of Life as a "queer Western, in the sense that there are two men, and they love each other."

The film features Ethan Hawke as Sheriff Jake and Pedro Pascal as Silva. The film's logline reads, "A man rides a horse across the desert that separates him from Bitter Creek. He comes to visit Sheriff Jake. Twenty-five years earlier, both the sheriff and Silva, the rancher who rides out to meet him, worked together as hired gunmen. Silva visits him with the excuse of reuniting with his friend from his youth, and they do indeed celebrate their meeting, but the next morning Sheriff Jake tells him that the reason for his trip is not to go down the memory lane of their old friendship...."

The film also stars José Condessa, Sara Sálamo, Pedro Casablanc and Manu Ríos
