Team Peaky Blinders lauds Cillian Murphy on Oppenheimer

Actor Cillian Murphy, who shined as the titular character J Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's recent directorial outing Oppenheimer, has been appreciated by all around the corner for his striking portrayal. The recent appreciation the actor has received is from the team of Peaky Blinders, the much-acclaimed series in which Cillian played the lead character, Tommy Shelby.

Taking to Instagram, the makers of the series penned a note congratulating the actor through the series' official social media handle, "Huge congratulations from Peaky Blinders to the mighty  Oppenheimer on its global success. Cillian, from the moment you donned Tommy's cap, it was clear that you were at the top of your craft. Your performance as Oppenheimer is magnificent."

Created by Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders ran from  2012-2022, with the sixth and final season premiering on Netflix last year. The series follows the story of Cillian's character Tommy Shelby and his notorious family's rise to power against the backdrop of the working class in post-WWI Birmingham. The show, where he also served as the executive producer, earned him the first BAFTA nomination.

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer has been minting big at the box office, grossing $400M globally in less than two weeks. The film, released on July 21, opened to much critical acclaim as well. An excerpt of the CE review of the film read, "Oppenheimer is a biopic; so yes, you'd expect it to be a drama full of dialogue—which it is, but what it also is, is a thriller, a mystery, and as you're walking away reeling from the film's last moment, you realise it's, at its heart, horror."
