Netflix has released the upcoming reboot of the Spy Kids franchise, titled Spy Kids: Armaggedon, on social media on Monday. The film is set to premiere on September 22.
Spy Kids: Armaggedon stars Zachary Levi and Gina Rodriguez in the lead roles. Connor Esterson, Everly Carganilla, Billy Magnussen are also part of the cast.
“When the children of the world’s greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful Game Developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology, they must become spies themselves to save their parents and the world," reads the synopsis of the film.
Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez who has helmed several films from the franchise like Spy Kids (2001), Spy Kids: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002), and Spy Kids 3D: Game Over, will be directing the upcoming film too. Robert had also developed the animated series version for Netflix, called Spy Kids: Mission Critical.
