Red, White & Royal Blue sets summer release date

Earlier, we had reported that Tony award-winner Matthew Lopez is set to make his directorial debut with the adaptation of Casey McQuiston's bestselling novel Red, White & Royal Blue. Along with announcing that the film is all set to premiere on Prime Video on August 11, the makers also released a new poster on Wednesday. 

Red, White & Royal Blue, which is an LGBTQ+ romance drama, is about a star-crossed power couple — the Latine character of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the president of the United States, and his relationship with Prince Henry, grandson of the Queen of England.

Red, White & Royal Blue stars Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitizine as the lead characters Alex and Henry. Alex's mother and President Ellen Claremont is essayed by Uma Thurman. Stephen Fry, Rachel Hilson, Sarah Shahi, Clifton Collins Jr., Aneesh Sheth, Polo Morin, Ellie Bamber, Ahmed Elhaj, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D Clarke, Thomas Flynn, and Malcolm Atobrah round off the rest of the ensemble cast. Matthew Lopez has written the screenplay from a previous draft by Ted Malawer.

Berlanti/Schechter Films' Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will be producing the film with Michael McGrath serving as the executive producer.
