Filmmaker Sidney Freeland's upcoming film is titled Rez Ball. While it is set to premiere on Netflix, the cast of the film includes Jessica Matten, Julia Jones, Amber Midthunder, Kiowa Gordon, Dallas Goldtooth, Cody Lightning, Ernest Tsosie and introducing Kauchani Bratt, along with newcomers Devin Sampson-Craig, River Rayne Thomas, Jojo Jackson, Avery Hale, Hunter Redhorse Arthur, Henry Wilson Jr, Jaren K. Robledo, Damian Henry Castellane, Kusem Goodwind, and Zoey Reyes.
Speaking about the film, Freeland, “This is a story that is so deep and close to me, and to be able to showcase our part of America with the world in such an authentic way is deeply gratifying."
It may be noted that Rez Ball's production is currently underway in New Mexico. The team is said to shoot some portions in Navajo Nation, with the permission and support of the local sovereign tribal nations.
According to the makers, the film's logline reads, "The story follows the Chuska Warriors, a Native American high school basketball team from Chuska, New Mexico that must band together after losing their star player if they want to keep their quest for a state championship alive. It’s an all-American underdog story about Native American kids and coaches told from the inside out."
