The trailer of The Boogeyman, the upcoming horror film directed by Rob Savage was released by the makers.

The film is an adaptation of Stephen King's short story which was first published in 1973. The story followed a psychiatrist who begins to experience supernatural presence after meeting a patient who claims of being targeted by an unnatural creature. As the patient reveals how a boogeyman cursed his family and hunted down his children, the doctor only dismisses it until he becomes a target himself.

The upcoming film will act like a sequel to the story and will focus on two teenage daughters of the psychiatrist, who lose their mother before the film opens.

The Boogeyman is a classic horror movie in the mold of Poltergeist that has scares and heart in equal measure. I vividly remember the terror I felt reading King’s short story as a kid, and it’s this feeling of childhood fear that I wanted to inspire in cinema audiences around the world. This film was made in collaboration with an incredibly talented team of creatives, and is anchored by wonderful, soulful performances from our incredible cast – I’m in awe of them, truly. We’re incredibly proud of this movie,” the director was quoted as saying by Collider.

The film's cast consists of Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, Vivien Lyra Blair, Marin Ireland, Madison Hu, LisaGay Hamilton, and David Dastmalchian. It has screenplay by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman. The Boogeyman will release in theatres on June 2.
