A new Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is wheeling up at Max

Max, Warner Bros. Discovery's new streaming service, ordered a prequel to the hit HBO series Game of Thrones titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Based on George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg books, the prequel announcement was made at Max's logo and name unveiling event.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight follows 90 years before the events of  A Song of Ice and Fire, on which Game of Thrones is based. Another prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, has been renewed to a second season after a successful first season debuted last year September. House of the Dragon tells the story of two centuries before the original.

The official logline of the prequel states, "A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends."

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight will have Martin as writer and executive producer. Ira Parker, along with  Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, will also serve as executive producers.
