A biopic of American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan is in the making, with actor Timothee Chalamet set to play the lead role. The film, which will be directed by James Mangold, will go on floors from August this year, the filmmaker confirmed to Collider.
While the project is yet to get a title, the filmmaker revealed that Timothee will also be singing for his role. The biopic of Bob Dylan is in the making for a very long time, with Timothe attached to the project for over three years since he was confirmed in January 2020.
“It's such an amazing time in American culture and the story of Bob, a young 19-year-old Bob Dylan coming to New York with $2 in his pocket and becoming a worldwide sensation within three years first being embraced and kind of into the family of folk music in New York. And then of course, kind of out running them at a certain point as his star rises. It’s so beyond belief, it's such an interesting true story and about such an interesting moment in America, the American scene, different characters from Woody Guthrie to Bob Dylan, to Pete Seeger, to Joan Baez. All have a role to play in this movie,” said the director to Collider.
Meanwhile, Timothe has two major projects lined up, Dune: Part Two and Wonka in which he plays the eccentric chocolate makers Willy Wonka.
