Taraji P Henson joins the cast of Abbott Elementary 

Brunson's Janine will prepare to take a solo trip over Memorial Day weekend in the upcoming episode, which is titled Mom. Her mother, played by Henson, appears unannounced and asks for help, thereby derailing her plans. 

Abbott Elementary follows a group of teachers and their Principal as they strive to give their students the best education they can being an underfunded public school in Philadelphia. Offering a humourous insight into very real issues, the series follows a mockumentary style. 

Abbott Elementary was created and written by Brunson and also stars Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Tyler James Williams, and William Stanford Davis.
