Rihanna releases song titled ‘Lift Me Up’ for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Rihanna has released the music video for the song titled Lift Me Up, which is all set to feature in the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The Black Panther sequel is all set to hit theatres on 11 November. Lift Me Up is the first solo single from Rihanna to have been released in six years, which also happens to be her 33rd solo single. Love on the Brain, which was released in 2016, was the last solo single from the singer until Lift Me Up

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, directed by Ryan Coogler, was made after the unexpected death of actor Chadwick Boseman, who plays the titular superhero in the film. When asked about how Rihanna stepped in to the project, Coogler says, “Honestly, I think it was Chad," he continues, "A lot of improbable things needed to happen for it to come through and Rihanna was very clear that she did that for him."

He further went on to talk about how Rihanna’s life at present mirrored the themes in the film and how that helped her compose the song for the film, "We knew [Rihanna] was at a point in her life as well where she was focusing on different things - focused on business, motherhood, which is a big theme in our film. We were holding out hope that maybe it could work out and boy did it for this song.

Reports suggest that apart from Lift Me Up, Rihanna has also recorded other songs for the film. The first film featured songs from Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has an ensemble cast that includes Lupita Nyong'o, Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett
