The Omen actor David Warner passes away

Emmy-winning actor David Warner, who is known for his roles in films like The Omen and Tron, passed away due to a cancer-related illness. He was 80.

In a statement, Warner's family said, "He will be missed hugely by us, his family and friends, and remembered as a kind-hearted, generous and compassionate man, partner and father, whose legacy of extraordinary work has touched the lives of so many over the years. We are heartbroken."

It was in the mid-70s to the mid-80s that Warner's career truly flourished, especially after his role as photographer Jennings in The Omen. He is also known for his villainous roles in Tron, Time after Time, and Time Bandits.

After being nominated for an Emmy for his performance as Reinhard Heydrich, a Nazi official in the 1978 miniseries Holocaust, he won the award for playing the sadistic Roman political opportunist Pomponius Falco in the 1981 miniseries Masada, reports Variety

Warner was also part of the ensemble cast of Titanic, and has featured in films like Planet of the Apes (2001), and Ladies in Lavender (2005). He recently starred in Disney's Mary Poppins Returns (2018), You, Me and Him (2017) and Penny Dreadful (2014).
