Michael Waldron has been tapped to write the next instalment of Marvel Studios' Avengers franchise, Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel had already revealed Secret Wars alongside Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at this summer's San Diego Comic-Con. It had previously been announced that Jeff Loveness would write The Kang Dynasty, which is scheduled to be filmed concurrently with Secret Wars and will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who has already directed the successful Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Notably, Waldron served as producer for the Disney+ series Loki, which garnered both critical acclaim and fan praise. He also assisted in the writing process of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Previously, Waldron was a writer on the NBC show Community and served as a writer/producer on the show Rick & Morty.
Details for both Avengers films are being kept tightly under wraps. The director of Avengers: Secret Wars has not been named yet, but the movie is still scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide on November 8, 2025.
