Director Gábor Csupó is reportedly making a feature-length version of the children’s Christmas classic ‘The Story of Holly and Ivy.’ The book, released in 1958, is written by Rumer Godden. It received praise as a ‘Perennial favourite’ and emerged over the years as a Christmas classic.
The story revolves around three Christmas wishes and how that affects the life of multiple people. Ivy, an orphan girl, wishes for a real home. Holly, a doll, wishes to be brought to life. The Joneses wish for a son or daughter.
Gábor Csupó is known for co-creating the animated show ‘Rugrats’ and directing Bridge to Terabithia. The film is being produced by Sebastian Weiland and Nina Gwyn Weiland under the banner of Kosmo films. Jeff Stockwell joins the pair to co-produce the film, he had previously co-written the screen adaptation of A Wrinkle In Time with them. The book was previously adapted as an animated Christmas film titled The Wish That Changed Christmas in 1991.
